What comes to mind when you think of inspiration? People perhaps? Or music? Lately I've been trying to expand how I style my outfits by gaining inspiration from new things. And so I have started to surround myself with images, quotes and just generally things I can take an incorporate into my clothing.

When I was younger I seemed to be in a never-ending loop of printing pictures off the computer, cutting things out of magazines and creating collages. I had dozen of posters across my walls and books covered in highlighter, clothes sorted in colour order and my mum's old fashion books and magazines under my bed. As you get older, you feel you need to abandon the 'silly' childhood hobbies, create clean white living spaces as 'that's what grown ups have'.
Tumblr is one of my best sources for things which strike a cord in me; writing that applies in the right-there moment, information on social issues I wasn't previously aware of from around the world and photographs ranging from fashion to landscape. The images on this post come from Tumblr and are some of my favourites - so different but all interesting to me. Grown out roots look cool to me and french braids make wicked waves after being slept in.

Another way I gain inspiration is taking note of how others in the street wear their clothes, like the colours they put together or how they accessorise. An example is the image below, the heels and ankle cut trousers are a striking pairing and the tattoos shows more about the person, as well as dressing down the usual work trouser and heel combination.

I hope this post starts you to find more inspiration around you, things you wouldn't register could be the way you want to change or add to your style so keep your eyes open. Sitting on the train or people watching could have a whole new dimension.
Have a lovely Sunday,
